Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is pleased to announce our 2021-2022 Jabberwock Scholarship Program.
The Jabberwock is a fundraising activity for scholarships and other public service programs that began as a unique means of raising scholarship funds. The word Jabberwock, copyrighted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in 1947 was taken from Lewis Carroll’s tale, Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland. The Jabberwock is a mythical character who called together the members of his kingdom to put on a gala event.
Young ladies in 11th -12th grade are eligible participants. They must demonstrate a commitment to a successful future, active interest and involvement in public service and community related activities. Activities and workshops are planned for participants that will encourage growth and confidence in areas of life skills, career planning and community service to name a few. The Jabberwock will be held Sunday, March 27, 2022.
Once we receive your application you will be required to attend an orientation session with a parent or guardian on Monday, December 6 @7:00pm via Zoom to receive more information and pay your registration fee in the amount of $25.00. To participate in the 2021-2022 Jabberwock, you must complete the application package, which consists of the following components:
- Recommendation Form (Have a teacher/counselor/pastor/principal/adult organizational leader complete the form and provide a character statement on your behalf on the form titled: Jabberwock Scholarship Program Recommendation Form.)
- $25.00 Application Fee
The Jabberwock Application Packet must be completed and emailed to email@example.com or submitted online by Wednesday, November 30, 2021 by 11:59pm. Please note that participants will have to download and email the Recommendation Form separately. Recommendation Forms must also be received by the aforementioned due date.
