High School students are opting out of college; due to lack of interest, the cost of college, unprepared for the higher education experience. This program will provide young adults the skills to seek employment after high school graduation. The Pittsburgh Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has created this program to assist young African American adults succeed in this endeavor. The program targets young adults who recently graduated from high school and did not find college or joining the military as an option.
There are many positions that do not require a college degree outside of fast-food restaurants. Career paths are available for those who do not have a college degree.
This program will assist young adults with workforce ready skills. This will allow them to be more attractive to employers since they will be prepared with the basic skills to start a job along with advanced skills on maintaining a position. We expect the participants will have job offers at the end of the program.
